    OT Program Overview

The Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (MSOT) at Pfeiffer University is a 27-month, cohort style program that equips tomorrow’s healthcare and rehabilitation professionals.

Students develop a servant attitude and holistic approach to occupational therapy, both of which will empower them for traditional professional settings as well as areas of newly identified needs like rural health.

All students in the program complete 12 semester hours of fieldwork in approved clinical education sites.

    Core curriculum courses focus on:

    • Gross Anatomy & Kinesiology
    • Neuroscience
    • Mental Health
    • Ethics and Professional Reasoning

For MSOT, "Master of Science of Occupational Therapy," what we're doing is we're doing student-led therapy services. So this gives us an opportunity to enhance our learning, and we find what we're learning in the classroom to real-world situations. Since we're in a rural area, this is the probably the most effective way to be more hands-on with our community.

Our ADL apartment is a simulation lab where we have a bedroom, living room and bathroom, where we're able to carry out real-life situations with our patients. The simulation apartment really helps students because it gives that real-life application to what you're learning. It enables me to take those real-life examples and apply them to my job as an OT.

I'm very happy to be part of the Occupational Therapy program. And there is a section in our department that we all students enjoy, and that is the glass gathering area. It is a room where we can sit down, and we do group work, and also eat, and study at the same time.

I am a mother and sometimes when I drive home, it's kind of hard for me to have time, you know, to study, but once I'm here in school, I try to use that room as much as I can to be able to, you know, get my work done.
