Albemarle Center for Health Sciences Overview

Pfeiffer University’s state-of-the-art Center for Health Sciences is located in downtown Albemarle, North Carolina. The Center is home to the Master of Physician Assistant Studies and Master of Occupational Therapy programs. These programs are built on Pfeiffer’s graduate clinical simulation education model, which brings life into books and books into life.

The facility features the Center for Advanced Clinical Simulation Education (CACSE), which includes four simulated ICU rooms, a surgical suite, and an emergency department trauma bay. Each of these rooms is equipped with a high-fidelity, computerized human simulator. CACSE also features a fully functional clinic with six exam rooms, where faculty and students provide community health services.

Learn more about our Center for Health Sciences.

The Pfeiffer University Center for Health Sciences in Albemarle is a state of the art facility. We offer the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies Program, which is a 27-month residential program. And the Master of Science in Occupational Therapy, which is also a 27-month residential program.

We have a Center for Clinical Education Simulation Center, where we hold simulations with our students, where they can attend a delivery or attend cardiac arrest. So we have simulators across the lifespan. I really enjoy the cadaver lab. When we get in there, we're able to get hands-on with the cadavers-- with the bodies. And when you see something in a textbook, you can't really tell in relation where it is to one part of the body or another. I think in real life, that's something you have to consider what it actually feels like. It's actually a person. It helps you with understanding the body more, and learning how to treat it.

Here, we actually focus on providing care to rural communities, which is something I'm very much focused on because there are gaps that people just don't have accessibility to health care. I want to be one of those people that help fill those gaps to provide more accessible care to those who live a little bit further from bigger cities.
